How to Remove Metadata from Photos

Photos contain hidden metadata (EXIF data) including GPS coordinates, camera model, date/time, and even your name. Before sharing photos online, remove this data to protect your privacy. SecureMint processes everything in your browser — your photos are never uploaded.

SecureMint uses zero-knowledge design. The server cannot read your data.

Steps

1

Open the metadata removal tool

Navigate to SecureMint's metadata removal page. Supports images (JPEG, PNG), PDFs, and Office documents.

2

Select your photo(s)

Drag and drop or select the photos you want to clean. Multiple files can be processed at once.

3

Review detected metadata

See all the hidden metadata found in your files: GPS coordinates, camera model, software used, creation date, and more.

4

Download the cleaned file

Download the file with all metadata stripped. The image quality is preserved — only the metadata is removed.

Why It's Secure

  • EXIF metadata can reveal your exact location, device information, and identity.
  • Social media platforms strip some metadata, but not all. Always remove before sharing.
  • All processing happens in your browser — your photos never leave your device.

FAQ

What metadata is removed?
GPS coordinates, camera model, lens info, software used, creation/modification dates, author name, copyright info, and all other EXIF/IPTC/XMP data.
Does it affect image quality?
No. Only the metadata is removed. The actual image pixels and quality remain exactly the same.
